What are the group colors for?
Each group has certain abilities and powers to offer members full reign of the site and how it progresses. Each color represents a certain group and what they possess.
First you have your staff members. The Administrator, the Co-Admin, and then the Moderators. After that are the member groups which can get a tad bit confusing.
Keep in mind, every member can belong to only one of the companies. They can have another character that belongs to Freelancers. If the character wishes to switch teams, then they can contact staff. You can only switch once every four weeks.

Why have sub-boards for the companies and no one else?
A big part of the site is sky pirates using their airships. Adding two competing companies for air control makes everything more interesting. Neither group is intended to cause ill feelings or make a bad taste in anyone mouth. The goal for the companies is to be better than their competitor, not destroy them. This adds a new feel to the site, and which ever company rises to the top can impact future events and even the site itself. Thus, the companies need their own sub-boards to make plans on where to raid and who to take.
If this is a problem with members of the site with enough of complaints, then staff will be more than happy to change how this works and make everything better for the members. Until then, however, this current system will stay in place until sometimes better is proposed by the member body.
Why can we have only align ourselves with one company?
To prevent spying on the other sub-board and throwing wrenches in the other group's plans. This is friendly competition, not "crush your opponent and leave nothing left because we are better than them" competition.
The Pirate group and the Civilian, Tamer, and Gijinka groups have been crafted to offer you freedom over other aspects of the site like combating your own company and going on expeditions and the like. Thus, involving yourself in the company battles is completely optional and the site can still be changed through the actions of characters not in either group.
If you are tired of one company, you can move to another company and enjoy your time there. You can only move every four weeks since that gives things plenty of time to change. Pay attention to how much you switch, however, staff will take notice if you change too frequently.
